OLD TOWN CHIROPRACTIC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Who comes here?
As a family oriented practice we provide wellness care for people of all ages
including newborns. Our patients seek complementary choices in health care for both acute and
chronic problems. Some have been seeing one or more doctors, including specialists, with little
or no results. Many healthy people including athletes, in order to sustain optimal health, come
regularly for “tune-ups”.
2. Why do you treat children?
Parents who place great value on the health of their children have them periodically
treated to maintain optimal growth and development. Removing interference allows for optimal
health and communication in the growing years.
3. What is Applied Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is derived from the Greek language meaning the study of motion
and Applied means to put into practical use. Applied Kinesiology in essence is the study of the
neurophysiology of movement.
4. What is CPK (Chiro Plus Kinesiology)?
CPK is a blend of the best chiropractic techniques taught in chiropractic
schools. These techniques include Kinesiology, Sacro Occipital Technique, and Acupuncture. The
combination of these techniques, when used together, allow safe, gentle, and effective treatments to
the body for speedier, longer lasting results.
5. What is NMT (Neuro Modulation Technique)?
NMT is a form of Consciousness Healing based on the belief that the body is
not meant to experience disease, but to maintain an optimal level of homeostasis. Illness will
arise when informational faults prevent the Conscious and Other-Than-Conscious from directing the healing
process to the source of dysfunction. Health and Vitality are optimized when these informational
faults are removed by the NMT method.
6. What is B.E.S.T. (Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique)?
B.E.S.T. is an advanced system of health care that balances body, mind, and
memory energy fields. Your practitioner focuses on finding and removing interference in these
energy fields, allowing your body to repair and rebuild the damage from physical, nutritional, or mental
stress.
7. How do you find the cause of my problems?
Applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a form of biofeedback which gives
us an external indication of internal conditions. This is confirmed with palpation, orthopedic
examinations, and neurological testing.
8. How can you fix my problem without popping my neck or back?
Since subluxations or bone displacements are caused by an imbalance of muscles
or loose ligaments we focus our attention on these tissues. These points are treated by gentle
chiropractic methods which consist of the stimulation or relaxation of muscles and the tightening of
ligaments. The electronic stimulation of acupuncture points help to keep these tissues in balance.
9. How many treatments will it take to fix the problem?
This is the most difficult question to answer because each person and each
problem is different. Some issues are straightforward and can be resolved in six to eight treatments. Other
more complicated or chronic problems may take longer to resolve. These chronic issues can be
viewed as fallen dominos in which layers of other issues must be cleared first in order to reach and
release the original problem. With patience and persistence optimal health can be achieved.
10. What should I expect after my first treatment?
Once again, everybody is different. Most people find Kinesiology and
B.E.S.T. treatments very relaxing. These treatments have very powerful properties which can bring
about major energy changes which may result in feelings of tiredness or sleepiness. This is a
good sign as it is an indication that your body’s energy is being diverted to the healing process. Some
people experience soreness or achiness sometime after the first treatment. This condition is
best helped by icing, resting, and drinking plenty of water.
11. I would like to refer someone to you. How can I explain to them
what you do?
It is difficult to describe to someone what a visit to our office
is like because the treatment process can vary from patient to patient. It is best to give them
one of our brochures which explains the methods used in our office in more detail. If they have
any questions please tell them to call our office for a FREE consultation with Dr.
Matt Goltl or Dr. Adrian Tartler.
12. What are the backgrounds of your doctors?
Dr. Matt Goltl received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker
College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas in 1994. He is certified in CPK, NMT, Toftness, Bio-Cranial
Technique, Wirkus-Bioenergy and has had extensive training in Applied Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Nutrition,
and Energy Balancing. As a former instructor for the Chiropractic-Plus Kinesiology (CPK) Association,
he has taught D.C.'s, D.O.'s, and M.D.'s how to more effectively address their patient's problems. He
and his family live in Wichita, Kansas, where he has served the needs of my patients since 1994.
Dr. Adrian Tartler received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from
Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, OR in 1990. He is Diplomate Status in the Morter
Health System / B.E.S.T. and has had extensive training in Kinesiology, Cranial Sacral
Technique, Nutrition, and Meridian Stress Assessment. As owner of a local Yoga studio he teaches
a dynamic flow class. He
is originally from Santa Barbara, CA and has joined up with Dr. Goltl and Old Town Chiropractic to
create a powerful healing center.
13. How often should I come for preventative health care?
Approximately once a month is usually sufficient. You wouldn’t
expect your car to run for years without periodic check-ups and minor repairs; your body is much the
same.
14. What health problems can you treat?
While we do not treat any specific diseases we focus our attention
instead on treating the body as a whole which helps to relieve symptoms caused by those diseases.
15. What is Meridian Stress Assessment (M.S.A)?
MSA is used to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of a person's energetic
health and balance. This process involves measuring electric conductivity at responsive points (acupoints)
in the skin—typically on the hands and feet. The measurements are recorded to help provide a profile
of a patient's present condition.
We encourage everyone to be active in their healing process and voice any questions
one may have about their health. Your healing process is based on the choices
you make physically and mentally, so choose wisely. Dr. Goltl and Dr. Tartler
recommend the following readings on Kinesiology:
Applied Kinesiology by Tom and Carole Valenitne with
Douglas P. Hetrick, D.C.
Healing Energies by Dr. Stephen Paul Shepard
Thorson’s Introductory Guide to Kinesiology by
Maggie La Tourelle with Anthea Courtenay
Your Body Doesn’t Lie by John Diamond, M.D.
